Carrie Smith is back in the office from 9:00am-12:00noon, Monday-Friday. Don’t hesitate to call her if you need anything. Carrie will be on vacation from June 16-22 & June 24-July 3. The July newsletter will go out on July 6.
Salem Pandemic Quilt
Salem members and friends can help create a quilt to remember this time. The quilters will compile squares from members and friends representing this time in our lives. The square needs to be 10.5 inches with an additional inch border on all sides. The fabric does not have to be stitched. You can use markers, fabric paint or some other way to make a square to represent you or your family during this time. If you have any further questions, please reach out to Carol Shroyer.
Offerings and tithes can still be mailed to the church or put in the church mailbox. Your offering supports the work of Salem in the community and world!
Much continues to be sent out via One Call. If you are not on One Call, have changed your number, need to add a number, or know of someone who needs to be added, please respond to this email or call the church office at 937-836-6145.
If you have a prayer request you’d like to go through the prayer chain, please call Deacon Sue Wampler at 937-286-4590. If she cannot be reached, please call Pastor Lee at 937-540-4533.
Leadership continues to be in conversation about when worship can move back into the building. Until then, extend grace, patience, and prayers; and find ways to continue to connect to your church family.
Most District events have been suspended or cancelled including traditional Summer Camp. There will be an “online camp” for all ages! Check out sodcob.org for information. The flyer is attached as well! The District June Newsletter is attached!
Annual Conference Virtual Choir
Recently, Annual Conference Moderator Paul Mundey announced plans for a denominational virtual choir. Three hymns are projected to be a part of the overall project: “Blessed Assurance,” “I See A New World Coming,” and “Move In Our Midst.” The three hymns will be used in the Virtual Denominational Worship and the Virtual Denominational Concert on July 1 and 2. You can find more information about them at: www.brethren.org/news/2020/denominational-worship-service-to-be-virtual-event.html Now we need your participation, as we join together to worship the Living God, in Christ, during these challenging days! In summary, a virtual choir is produced by each individual person recording themselves singing along with the hymn, and then all those submissions are painstakingly put together into one grand compilation that includes all the voices. Each of us gets to contribute our small part to help make up the whole (much like with the church!). As it is with large choirs, individual voices will not be heard, just all of us together. We’ve set ambitious goals for this project, and are working on three hymns at once. We welcome your submissions as soon as possible
The Early-Bird Deadline is June 7, 2020;
The Final Deadline is June 14, 2020.
Please pay careful attention to these deadlines for sending in your submissions, because we are on a very tight timeline as we hope to have the final choir pieces ready for our worship celebration July 1. To make your submission go to the following web link: www.brethren.org/VirtualChoir For general questions about the Virtual Choir project, please email@example.com. For technical assistance, please contact: assistance@LivingStreamCOB.org. Please pray for the project overall, and the project core team consisting of Enten Eller, Paul Mundey, and Dave Sollenberger.
